Although navigating around Acronis True Image for Mac is an easy and intuitive task, there are a number of small hiccups that need to be ironed out with this application. Not least of which is the application's failed ability to work with all file systems. You can only work with certain ones, e.g. Mac OS Extended format (case-insensitive), FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS (read-only). It also struggles with generating backup images on Macs that have Bootcamp installed, or for that matter use Fusion Drive or File Vault 2. That having been said, the whole backup process is very simple to follow; just specify the source and destination location for the backup and Acronis True Image for Mac will take care of the rest. As you would expect from a firm that has been making backup solutions for well over a decade, Acronis has hit the mark again with the latest edition of their renowned backup application, even with the file system flaw. WhatsApp for Mac is a renowned messaging service that has been around for some time now. Although you can use it on the web, WhatsApp for Mac has launched a desktop app for both Windows and Mac OS X platforms. This new desktop version of the app will be great for some users, as it no longer needs to take up space in your web browser. The new app basically works as an extension of your phone; it mirrors messages and conversations from your device. Using the desktop version of the app comes with advantages including proper native desktop notifications and better keyboard shortcuts. You simply need WhatsApp installed and working on your phone and Mac OS X 10.9 or later. Using the desktop version on your Mac is easy; as soon as you have downloaded and installed the app, you simply need to scan the QR code on the screen with your phone using WhatsApp (Open WhatsApp, click Menu and select WhatsApp Web). Then, as soon as it has been recognised, the desktop app will be linked with your account. It is worth noting that since the desktop app uses your mobile device to sync messages, it would probably be best to ensure that it is connected to Wi-Fi to avoid excessive data usage. Visual Studio Code for Mac
Visual Studio Code for Mac is a lightweight, yet powerful source code editor that runs from your Mac desktop*. It comes with built-in support for JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js and has a varied array of extensions available for other languages, including C++, C#, Python, and PHP. Visual Studio Code for Mac is an integrated development environment (IDE) and the main focus with this version is it is clearly leaning towards being lightweight. Visual Studio Code launches in a matter of seconds, and the auto-complete function is fast. All settings for the IDE are project-based and JSON files, and the search interface is really powerful, responsive and supports Regex. Visual Studio Code for Mac has been developed well, is aesthetically pleasing and has good functionality with intellisense and autocomplete working well for JSON, CSS, HTML, {less}, and Node.js. The only downsides to this editor we can find is that support for other languages in this regard, such as PHP, seems somewhat lacking as you only get syntax highlighting. Visual Studio Code for Mac is really being targeted at JavaScript developers who want a fully-fledged development tool for their server-side scripting and who may want to venture from Node.js to .NET-based frameworks. Overall though, Visual Studio Code for Mac, is a lightweight yet solid, cross platform code editor, which can be used by anyone to build apps for the Web or the cloud. *Versions for Windows OS and Linux are also available.

PCSX2 for Mac is a Playstation 2 emulator for PC. The compatibility rates for the emulator boast over 80% of all PS2 games as playable. The downside is it struggles with high-speed games and on occasion freezes or crashes.* Note you will require a Playstation 2 BIOS, which can be extracted from your console in order to use PCSX2 for Mac.
